Starting to Paint in Oils

Course Description

Course suits: Those with no or little  experience with  oil paints who wish to learn about techniques and materials handling to paint vibrant works in oils.

Objectives: To introduce you some methods of applying oil paint to create paintings that will provide you with the necessary building blocks for you to continue after the course. 

This class takes the student through the first principles of oil paint handling and application, mixing and additives such as thinners and drying agents.

It will see the student create work using established methods of oil painting.

We will also consider the role of brushes and surface preparation and their importance in successful oil painting.

Level: For those with little or no understanding of oil painting.

Materials needed: All basic materials will be available on the day, but students may bring their own.
